A Parent’s Guide for Safe, Encouraging Play with Baby
All around the world, the word play has been something significant in the life of every individual. In fact, it has
been discovered that any person or individual who does not play does appear to be happy. Hence the popular saying.
"All work and no play make Jack a dull boy." However, the word play means something greater and perhaps something
different for children. Playing especially important for babies. Actually, playing may be the most important thing
on a baby's mind; unlike their parents or even their older siblings. It has been found that playing is an essential
part to a baby's development, because playing is a great part of their communication as babies. Playing with the
baby can create a deeper bond between the baby and the parent. In playing, the baby is able to see the parent on
their level.
Parents are perhaps a baby's greatest play mate. The parent has a great role in the baby's life, and that role can
become even through safe play. Playing with the baby and showing them how to play safely can make the baby more
willing and more eager to play, especially with the parent. It is important for the parent to appear to be enjoying
the play time as much as the baby, as this will teach the baby how to interact with others while showing them how
the loving side of playing with another person. Trying out different types of play is important, as the baby may
not enjoy everything, and parents should perform proper observation to determine what baby likes and does not like.
It is not ever good to assume that the baby likes every type of play, as they have preferences to. By trying out
different types of play, the parent will be able to learn more about their child while encouraging them to play and
be free with them.
Encouraging safe play requires the parent to take an active role. Parents must know how their baby is playing,
where they are playing, and how they like to play. Taking an active role begins by simply observing the baby.
Parents can practice observation, by placing the baby in the middle of the floor and putting several toys around
them. During this process parents will be able to observe the baby's habits during play while learning what toys
the baby likes and doesn’t like and what toys are effective and helping him/her learn. Playing with the parent can
prepare the baby for playing with other babies their own age. So parents should always play safely with their baby,
and make sure that the baby doesn't develop any bad habits such as throwing toys are hitting with them. It is said
the richest play occurs when the parent takes an active role.
It is good to encourage safe play by showing the baby how to play with consideration, but it is also advisable to
create a safe area for the baby to play in. The area the baby plays in must be baby proof sure to be free from
accidents, as babies are free in their play. Babies typically move freely about, so it is advisable to have a room
or area clear of sharp objects and furniture. Selection of toys is also a great consideration. Parents should
choose toys carefully, and should be sure to read the age requirements on toys while making sure toys don't have
small objects are sharp edges that may harm babies. Every toy is not perfect for every child, so parents should
consider all points before purchasing their baby a new toy.
Babies can be a handful, but they can also be very enjoyable. A playful parent can encourage a playful and happy
baby. Although, there are many unforeseen dangers out there, parents can make sure that their baby is as safe as
possible by encouraging safe play, and practicing safety themselves. There's no happier scene then a parent playing
with a baby, and there's no greater joy for the baby than playing with his mommy or daddy. So parents should show
their babies how happy they are to have them by playing and encouraging safe play with baby.
